AURUM VIOLINS
Fine Handmade Violins
Handmade violin (2017) based on the 1715 Titian Stradivari

This violin was made in 2017 and is modelled on the 1715 Titian Stradivari, a golden period instrument noted for its formidable power and tonal beauty. The belly is made from two pieces of quarter sawn spruce of medium grain. The back is likewise made from two pieces of quarter sawn horizontally flamed maple of great reflectivity. The red varnish is coloured with cochineal, a key ingredient of Stradivarius' lost recipe. The tone is powerful and highly resonant. Unfortunately I do not have a recording of this violin but in my opinion it sounds even better than my 2015 copy which was sold to the Royal Northern College of Music.
